About New Castle County Board of REALTORS™
The New Castle County Board of REALTORS® (originally known as the Greater Wilmington Board of REALTORS®, Inc.) was formed and incorporated in 1923.
The New Castle County Board of REALTORS® is a trade association whose members are REALTORS® and Affiliates. The New Castle County Board of REALTORS® has over 2,000 REALTOR® members and over 200 Affiliate members. It is governed by a Board of Directors and served by volunteer committees. A staff of six is charged with the operations and implementation of the programs, products and services provided to members.
The New Castle County Board of REALTORS® is affiliated with the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® and the Delaware Association of REALTORS®. When a real estate agent joins the New Castle County Board of REALTORS®, he or she automatically becomes a member of the national and state associations. The term “REALTOR®,” other derivatives of the word, and the “block ‘R’ logo" are registered trademarks and are limited to use by REALTORS®. Additionally, when an agent becomes a REALTOR®, he or she agrees to abide by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®' Code of Ethics. Each local association is charged with enforcement of the Code of Ethics and protection of the membership marks.
Members of the New Castle County Board of REALTORS® are entitled to certain rights and privileges of membership. Some of the benefits of membership include use of copyrighted real estate forms, a keycard/lockbox secure access system, educational offerings, various product sales (brochures, maps, etc.), lobbying efforts on multiple levels of government, arbitration of commission disputes, meetings and other gathering occasions and the NCCBOR signature event – SHOWCASE.
The purpose of the New Castle County Board of REALTORS® is to unite those engaged in the recognized branches of the real estate profession for the purpose of exerting a beneficial influence upon the profession and related interests, to promote and maintain high standards of conduct in the real estate profession as expressed in the Code of Ethics of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®, to provide a unified medium for real estate owners and those engaged in the real estate profession whereby their interests may be safeguarded and advanced, to further the interest of home and other real property ownership, to unite those engaged in the real estate profession in this community with the DELAWARE ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (hereinafter sometimes referred to as the "State Association") and the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®, thereby furthering their own objectives throughout the state and nation, and obtaining the benefits and privileges of membership therein, to designate, for the benefit of the public, individuals authorized to use the terms REALTOR® and REALTORS® as licensed, prescribed, and controlled by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®.
The New Castle County Board of REALTORS® strives to provide meaningful programs, products and services to its membership that enhance their business needs, provide education, information and training and enhanced the REALTOR® image both to the consumer and within the profession; in addition to providing certain information to elected and appointed officials of government to facilitate the individual’s right to own, use and transfer real property; plus, to provide certain services and information to the general public.
